Nunavut Emergency Management is responsible for developing the territorial emergency response plans, coordinating GN emergency operations at the territorial and regional levels, and supporting community emergency response operations.

Public education is coordinated and promoted through this office focusing on emergency preparedness for individuals as well as training programs aimed at emergency responders.

Nunavut Emergency Mangement supports the conduct and development of community Search and Rescue volunteer organizations through training and funding programs.
