Boiler Safety Boilers - Registration and Permits Registration and examination of Stationary Engineers: Stationary Engineers that are required for the operation of boilers over 30 KW and installed in other than single family and duplex homes are registered with this section. Registration is every 3 years. Boiler Safety also does examination to the National system for 1st through 5th class engineers. Registration and examination of Pressure Wielders: Pressure Wielders are registered annually and this section may also provide testing of wielders. Permits: A permit is required for all boiler and pressure vessel installations where the total connected capacity of a boiler is over 30 KW and installed in other than a single family or duplex home. Any pressure vessel over .06 cubic meters also requires a permit before installation.
